How to Install Wire Shelving

At Seville Classics, we’ve designed our steel wire shelving as a standalone unit, so there’s no need to drill screws into a wall, or keep track of tiny brackets and wall clips. In fact, no tools are required for assembly, so the process is quick and painless. In this handy guide, we’ve outlined how to install wire shelving in your garage, office, or any room with limited storage.

Do a Headcount for Parts

First, open your shelving unit box and carefully lay the parts on the floor. Some models come with optional casters (like the 5-Tier UltraZinc Steel Wire Shelving w/ Wheels), while other models are designed with leveling feet (like the 5-Tier Black Epoxy Steel Wire Shelving). Take a look at the assembly instructions, and then count the parts to confirm that you have everything.

Assemble Feet and Poles

Next, take the leveling feet (or casters, depending on your shelving unit) and screw them tightly into the bottom poles. Each pole has a top section (with a plastic cap) and a bottom section (with a threaded end). Screw the two sections together to create the full-sized poles.

Fasten Slip Sleeves

Inside the box, you should have enough slip sleeves to support every shelf. Each slip sleeve contains two pieces that attach to each other, with the pole in the center. Simply fasten the pieces around the pole groove until they snap together. To start, you’ll need to attach one slip sleeve at the bottom of each pole, so that the bottom shelf is supported.

Attach Your Shelves

With the four poles positioned vertically, slide the first shelf from the top to the bottom of the poles, until it rests on the slip sleeves. If the shelf still feels loose, you can tap it a few times with a rubber mallet. Then, repeat the process by adding four more slip sleeves, and sliding on the next shelf, until the unit is complete.
