INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER

 

Requirements:
Bachelor Degree Industrial Design or Electronic Engineering + 2 years experience

Job Duties:
Develops concepts for addition of electrical and electronic control features into existing and planned lines of very high volume home furnishing manufacturer, as well as projects for new product development. Includes evaluation of feasibility of projects to integrate advanced technological concepts from hand­held devices to traditional housewares.

Receives information from management as to desired features such as track lighting, display lighting, motion sensors, remote activation, and other visual effects while being aware of cost constraints and available materials. Uses combination of freehand drawing, CAD/CAM software, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and 3D Modeling software as integral aspects of design concept development and presentation. Creates illustrative computer ­assisted representations as well as physical models. Prepares precise specifications and instructions for manufacturer, such as power requirements, light characteristics, Bluetooth range and safety considerations such as temperature control, insulation requirements. Specifications may be in the form of text, visual representations with marked dimensions and textual commentary, and circuitry diagrams, with specific explanation as to points of attachment to furnishing, types of fasteners, and other necessary features for seamless integration of electrical enhancements. Prepares working spec sheets for use in manufacturing process. Examines and tests prototypes and samples for performance, safety, and general quality assurance.

Evaluates electrical and electronic components on the market for suitability for use in furnishings, for example sensors, microcontrollers, LED and conventional lighting, wireless technology components. Maintains and adds to firm's computerized design library with descriptions and graphic representations of new and modified designs.

Works in close collaboration with home furnishings and houseware designers, as well as marketing personnel, as critically important element of product planning.

Salary: $42,162+/year
Schedule: 40 hours per week (Full Time); Monday through Friday, 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM

BUYER, WHOLESALE

 

Requirements:

Minimum 3 years experience in job offered + oral and written Chinese (National Dialect); Oral Spanish

Job Duties:

Selects and conducts transactions for importation of large-volume home furnishings and accessories for resale in U.S. and Latin America. Conducts written and oral business communication with Chinese sources of supply, generally in Chinese (National Dialect) language. Negotiation & selection of vendors in Taiwan and China. Approves terms and payment. Makes purchase decisions based on existing profile of demand, as well as regular contact with Latin American business customers presently engaged in multi-million dollar trade with the company. Uses oral Spanish approximately 20% of time for said business-to-business communications with Latin America, and oral and written Chinese approximately 35% for contact with product suppliers. Travel to China/Taiwan 2-3 weeks alternate month. Where demand is identified for product not currently on offer, advises management of need and, upon authorization, identifies appropriate source of supply.
