Environmental Responsibility

Making space for change.

Our mission is to cultivate change among our customers, buyers, suppliers, partners, and our own team by rethinking the way we design and operate.

We are moving with intention when it comes to environmentally conscious actions. We do so by using more renewable materials, adopting resource-saving packaging, and diverting waste within our operations. We pledge to carry integrity and transparency through this journey.

Packaged with Care

We believe good things come in responsible packages. As part of our mission to reduce waste, we are rethinking packaging with a focus on increasing recycled content, which helps to contribute to a circular economy. By reusing and repurposing resources, we give them a chance to live their best second (or even third) shelf life.

We recognize that some of our packaging still relies on plastics, like polystyrene, but we're actively exploring safer, more sustainable alternatives to cushion, wrap, and box up your products so they are secure and carefully protected. Our goal is transparency and intentional choices that benefit both you and the planet.

Stacking up Progress:
• Repurposing boxes for Customer Service shipments
• Shifting to plastic film made of post-consumer recycled materials
• Switching from polystyrene to honeycomb fillers

Mindful Materials

Our story begins with materials chosen to last. We have thoughtfully integrated recyclable and renewable materials in many of our products, choosing resilient, natural options such as Water Hyacinth, Bamboo, Wood (Acacia, Rubber, Beech, and Teak), Rattan, and Cork. These materials are a reminder of how remarkable our planet is, offering renewable resources that let us create with care.

To us, environmental responsibility isn't only about materials; it's also about making products that are designed to last. Our steel products are designed with longevity in mind; if cared for properly, they are durable enough to be passed down for generations and kept out of landfills.

Responsible sourcing starts at the root! In April 2025, our Torrance warehouse earned FSC® certification, marking an important milestone in closing the loop on wood traceability from forest to consumer. This certification lays the groundwork for upcoming projects and reflects our commitment to responsible sourcing.

Closing the Loop

Even the best-made products hit a few bumps along the way. If they do, our Customer Service team has you covered with replacement parts and solutions to help extend the life of your products, reducing unnecessary waste.

We are organizing waste into second chances for materials to stay in the loop as long as possible. As part of our mission to cultivate change within our operations, we are reconsidering how we use the resources we already have. Whenever possible, we redirect damaged or surplus materials to like-minded organizations that can give them a new purpose, encourage our warehouse team to reuse and repurpose materials, and ensure compostable waste flows into the proper stream.

Join us in reducing waste and extending the life cycle of valuable resources.

Stacking up Progress:
• Collaborating with Allied Woodshop in Los Angeles to repurpose damaged wood materials
• Adopting non-bleached paper towels, a frequent consumable, to favor a compost waste stream
• Increasing organic waste diversion from the landfill through internal education activities and signage
